Major milestone this week: I had to go buy maternity pants! I feel like it happened so quickly too! My little trick with the hair tie was starting to struggle last week, so I figured it was time to go all in! I was so afraid that all maternity clothes were awful, billowy tents, but I got a cute pair of boot cut jeans and some skinny jeans. And they're comfortable too, PHEW! Shirts are still good to go for a while I think, but then again, that's what I thought with my jeans....
Good timing by the girl scouts this week because I've been going through my box of Samoas pretty quickly! They never tasted so good. I've also gotten my fill of Mexican food and I couldn't have been happier! After weighing myself I've gained another 2 pounds this week and my little bump is growing fast!
Pear: Baby Newton is about 5.1 inches long and weighs around 5.9 ounces! Continuing to grow and grow; putting some meat on those bones this week. The skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord is growing stronger and thicker. Baby keeps moving his or her joints, although I still haven't felt anything definite yet. The other big development this week is that the baby's sweat glands are forming.
Now this is a story all about how, our lives got flipped, turned upside-down. So We'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, and We'll tell you all about our baby, our life and our Heir!

16 Weeks
Sweet 16, almost half way there and I'm feeling great. Speaking of sweet, Baby got another Krispy Kreme! I unfortunately want everything I know I'm not supposed to have; donuts, tater tots, french fries (loaded occasionally), pizza, gummy bears and Oreos. It's all for a good cause, so who's judging?
This week I've kept busy and I'm starting to get the nursery ready to go thanks to family. We've already got a bassinet, a crib, a swing that plays music and a glider. I can't wait to find out if Baby Newton is a boy or girl in a couple weeks so I can really get busy with the decor! Derek has already been buying decor and says it's "gender neutral". He's purchased some comic books that he wants to frame and hang in the nursery. They are of super hero characters as babies. They are actually very cute and I can't wait to hang them up. Here's one of them :)
Avocado: Grow baby grow! At 16 weeks he/she measures 4.6 inches long (head to rump) and weighs 3.5 ounces. The legs are much more developed and his or her head is more erect than it has been. The ears are close to their final position and tiny bones are forming, so baby will start to hear this week! (Better start cleaning up my potty mouth.) The amazing thing is that when Baby arrives, he/she will already recognize our voices! Little Baby Newton is also growing hair, lashes and eyebrows. Toenails are present now and taste buds are forming.

15 Weeks
This week I had my next check up. I'll be going once a month for the next few months. The appointment today consisted of a blood draw called AFP. This blood test checks for spinal cord abnormalities. I also got to hear the baby's heartbeat again, 144 beats per minute! Dr. Mercado went over all the results from my tests the other week. All of my blood tests came back normal and the specialist's report confirmed that we have no concern for any type of genetic disorders. My next appointment is scheduled for the 6th of March. Derek and I are looking forward to that visit because we get to find out the sex of Little Baby Newton!
I can't complain about anything this week. I've been feeling great and eating well! I've gained 3 pounds since a couple weeks ago. Normal weight gain is about 5 to 10 pounds in the first trimester, so I'm good to go :) As you can see, the bump is getting there. I still feel like I just look like a bloated person sometimes. I'm not fitting in my jeans anymore without having to leave the button open. I learned a trick on Pinterest where I can attach the button and hole using a hair elastic! (Ghetto, but it works.) The right amount of extra room for my bump and I can still wear my designer jeans. I'm still not feeling any baby movement, but should in another 2-3 weeks as the baby almost doubles in size. No cravings in particular this week, just eating every few hours. I think this week I'll have to treat myself to another Krispy Kreme when I get the "Hot Light" notification on my phone. It's the little things....
APPLE: Growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2.5 ounces. He or She is busy moving amniotic fluid thought the nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. Baby Newton's legs are growing longer than his or her arms now, and he or she can move all those tiny joints and limbs. Eyelids are still fused shut, but can sense light and taste buds are forming.

14 Weeks
After fighting a cold and luckily only having a stuffy nose for 2 days, I'm feeling great! No weight gain this week. Overall, uneventful. This week's craving is Cheetos. I usually don't like salty snacks, but one night I said I wanted them and then the next day, Derek bought me a bag. Delicious :) I'm sure the baby is impressed with my finger licking skills, as to not waste the orange, fake cheese residue on my fingers! I'm feeling great; happy and energetic. Definitely seeing my bump all the time now. Another reason to smile!
LEMON: This week's big developments: baby can squint, frown, grimace, and possibly suck his or her thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, baby's facial muscles are getting a workout as tiny features form one expression after another. The kidneys are producing urine and baby can pee now. Also, it's body is starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy layer of hair, called "Lanugo", that covers the body. Little Newton is stretching out. From head to bottom, measuring 3.5 inches and weighing 1.5 ounces.
